WEBBCONA club president Craig Wells has announced that their players will wear pink pennant shirts this weekend in their Division 1 match at Victoria Bowling Club, with Victoria reciprocating the promotion as a part of the initiative to create awareness of the Women’s Health in Bowls Round.<\/p>\n

In addition to the wearing of pink pennant shirts, it is expected that some bowlers will take the further step to dye their hair pink for the occasion.<\/p>\n

“We are promoting the Women’s Health in Bowls Round through the clubs in the Ballarat Highlands region with most of the clubs purchasing the pink bowls clothes which they will distribute amongst their member bowlers,” Victoria Bowling Club’s Lauren Morris said.<\/p>\n

“We hope in the future Bowls Victoria will pick up this initiative and develop the program throughout the State in the years ahead.”<\/p>\n

This follows Webbcona’s initiative two weeks ago to wear black pennant shirts as part of the promotion for Mental Health Bowls For Your Life.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, it will be serious business this Saturday for Webbcona’s Division 1 side as they need to finish their last two pennant matches in winning form to climb from fifth position to give themselves a chance to make finals by displacing either Midlands or City Oval.<\/p>\n

A good outcome in their away match at Victoria this Saturday is sure to set the last game of the round in a week playing Midlands at home as the pivotal match of the final round.<\/p>\n

“Overall things are on the improve around the club with the possibility of the club having four sides playing finals this year,” president Craig Wells said.<\/p>\n

“Our Division 5 side is currently in second position whilst our Division 6 and 8 teams are currently third, so we are positive that the sides will progress well in the coming finals. It will be great for some of our long-serving bowlers such as Ken Frost to get a chance to play for a flag this season after a few lean years in the club.<\/p>\n

“Off the green things are going great and our social committee is running a full program including monthly dinners for our members, so this is creating a great atmosphere around the club in addition to our successes on the green.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
