BALLARAT residents are being invited to help shape a new interactive heritage trail planned for Lydiard Street, with community consultation now open until 27 February.<\/p>\n
The City of Ballarat’s proposed Roam Discovery Trail will feature augmented-reality markers between Ballarat Station and Dana Street, unlocking stories about the city’s cultural history.<\/p>\n
Following a drop-in session and guided walks held earlier this week, residents, business owners and visitors are now being asked to share their ideas through an online survey on the council’s MySay page.<\/p>\n
Ballarat mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said community input will be vital to shaping a trail that reflects the character and pride of Ballarat.<\/p>\n
“Lydiard Street is one of our most significant and beloved precincts, and we want to ensure the Roam Discovery Trail honours the history, stories and identity our community holds so dearly,” she said.<\/p>\n
“This is a chance for everyone to have a say in how we bring these stories to life.<\/p>\n
“Roam will help strengthen Ballarat’s position as an iconic heritage destination.<\/p>\n
“By blending digital technology with our extraordinary built history, we’re creating experiences that encourage longer stays, repeat visitation and deeper connection with our city’s past.”<\/p>\n
Once completed, the trail will form part of a broader regional effort to enhance visitor experiences across the Victorian goldfields.<\/p>\n
The Roam Discovery Trail is jointly funded by the City of Ballarat and the Victorian Government through its Visitor Servicing Fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
