A QUICK alternative to tennis, Fast4 has proved a smash hit with players and families at the Buninyong Community Tennis Club during February.<\/p>\n

Over the past three Thursday nights, locals have been encouraged to have a hit, grab an easy dinner and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming social atmosphere on court.<\/p>\n

Momentum has built rapidly, with numbers jumping from 24 players one week to 42 the next, showing the appetite for simple, accessible ways to connect locally.<\/p>\n

As the four-week program ends this Thursday night, organisers are hoping to top the 42 mark.<\/p>\n

Initially launched in 2015 by former world No.1s Roger Federer and Lleyton Hewitt, Fast4 tennis is designed to be quick and fun, with shorter matches that make it easy for everyone of all abilities to jump in.<\/p>\n

But club president Rohan Worland said the real magic at Buninyong was the community feel, as people enjoyed a chat over a barbecue or pizza after their games.<\/p>\n

\u201cFast4 is all about getting people together,\u201d club president Rohan Worland said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can bring the kids, family, friends, neighbours or come solo, we\u2019ll sort you into the mix.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the perfect opportunity for a hit on court and a great catch up off it too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re finding Fast4 brings people out of hibernation.<\/p>\n

\u201cOften that haven\u2019t played in years yet are thoroughly enjoying hitting again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got parents teaming up with their kids or challenging their grandparents to a match.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what it\u2019s all about,” he said.<\/p>\n

Fast4 is a social tennis initiative delivered locally by the Buninyong Community Tennis Club, a part of the Buninyong and District Tennis Association.<\/p>\n

The courts are located in Forest Street.<\/p>\n

Cost is $5 with dinner on the final night being pizza. Newcomers are welcome.<\/p>\n
