MIDLANDS Golf Bowling Club’s Brian Croft is pleased with the club’s success in this season’s competition, which sees four of its five Saturday pennant sides go through to play finals.<\/p>\n

“Our Division 8 side had a big win against Webbcona on Saturday earning all 16 points on offer, which enabled the team to slip into fourth place on the ladder by only a narrow percentage margin,” he said.<\/p>\n

“This makes it a very good season and we are very happy where the club is at the moment. There is great support amongst the players and this has flowed through to our club’s success.<\/p>\n

“Our game played last Saturday at BMS against their Division 3 side was played like a final; it was a very good game and whilst competitive it was played in good spirit with a bit of humour along the way. It came right down to the last bowl where we managed a single-shot win with Peter Considine’s rink having a good win for the afternoon with enough shots up to give our side a win overall.”<\/p>\n

The win sees the Midlands Golf side retain its second position on the Division 3 Saturday pennant ladder.<\/p>\n

The club’s top side, which was elevated this season to the Division 1 competition, has managed to hold on to play finals after losing all rinks to the Webbcona side on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Midlands’ Division 7 side has performed well throughout the season and has narrowly managed to retain the top position on the ladder against the Victoria team, with both teams well ahead of their competition. This Saturday’s semi-final matches will see Midland Golf’s division 1 side play off in a rematch with Webbcona for the right to continue through to play in the preliminary final the following week.<\/p>\n

The Webbcona and Midlands Golf semi-final should be a great match this Saturday, with both teams in good form in the latter part of the season.<\/p>\n

Webbcona have won their last five games including recent wins against the leading sides of Victoria and Sebastopol. The club also has its sides in divisions 5, 6 and 8 playing in this weekend’s semi-finals.<\/p>\n

“We are very happy with our win last Saturday and we managed to overtake Buninyong to finish on top of the ladder as we enter the finals,” BMS Club president and Division 4 skipper Patrick Kennedy said.<\/p>\n

“Our semi-final match on Saturday will be tough against Learmonth as their team is a strong side and had a good win against Buninyong last Saturday.<\/p>\n

“Our Division 3 side is also going on to play finals this Saturday after narrowly qualifying through having three rinks up last week.<\/p>\n

“In the Tuesday Pennant competition we are pleased that all our four sides have won through to participate in the season’s finals and we are hopeful for success for the club here as well.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
