{"id":120757,"date":"2026-03-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=120757"},"modified":"2026-03-25T18:04:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T07:04:11","slug":"a-fine-day-out-for-farmers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/a-fine-day-out-for-farmers\/","title":{"rendered":"A fine day out for farmers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHAT do farmers talk about when they get together for a day out in an uncertain world?<\/p>\n<p>Many of the answers to that question could be found at Mount Rowan&#8217;s Ballarat Showgrounds and Events Centre as the venue on Wednesday set the scene for Farmers Day Out.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Commerce Ballarat, the new event was designed to support people in agriculture with the business of farming, and featured keynote speakers, stalls showcasing new and innovative services, health checks, extensive networking, and breakout workshops to dig deeper into matters impacting life on the land.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/03\/FarmersDayOutB_26706.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1812\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Asparagus and garlic growers Mark and Emily Lee from Wattle Flat at the Farmers Day Out.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With unsettling global affairs impacting fuel, fertiliser and farming, the keynote address by founder of Global Agritrends Downunder, Simon Quilty drew an attentive audience.<\/p>\n<p>While acknowledging the challenges arising from the US-Iranian conflict, the sought-after international speaker had some positive messages for Aussie farmers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The main message is panic slowly,&#8221;
