{"id":123390,"date":"2026-06-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=123390"},"modified":"2026-06-17T20:01:31","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T10:01:31","slug":"tiny-towns-funds-power-upgrades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/tiny-towns-funds-power-upgrades\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiny Towns funds power upgrades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A significant power upgrade for the showgrounds and events centre at Mount Rowan and an exterior overhaul for Dean Hall and Mechanics Institute are among projects to benefit from the state&#8217;s latest round of Tiny Towns funding.<\/p>\n<p>Announced last week, the funding includes $41,857 for Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society to put towards the power upgrade, while $50,000 is going to the Dean Hall and Mechanics Institute.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are absolutely thrilled to have been successful,&#8221; Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society president Kerri Gallagher said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The funding will enable a power upgrade for our equestrian centre. For our 2025 show we had to hire power generators.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This means we won&#8217;t need to do that again.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/06\/EquestrianCentreinca_27303.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Inside the equestrian centre at the Ballarat Showgrounds and Events Centre. Photo: Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will enable a three-phase power upgrade and it will increase the number of points throughout the facility making it more attractive for more events to hire.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a not-for-profilt organisation we are really grateful for the support. It is one of those projects that has been on our wish list.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Similarly delighted Dean Hall and Mechanics Institute committee member Kristy Tippett said the funding will enable the committee to start work on refurbishing the badly weathered exterior of the vintage venue later this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Getting this funding is a huge difference for us. It&#8217;s amazing,&#8221; Tippett said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;d have to do years of fundraising to raise that amount otherwise.
