UNIVERSITY of the 3rd Age in Ballarat has been operating for approximately 30 years and caters to the learning needs and physical activity of retired and semi-retired people in the community.<\/p>\n
Currently U3A has 1,155 members between the ages of 55 and 97 years.<\/p>\n
It offers members more than 120 activities and subjects, ranging from opportunities to become involved in physical and academic courses through to the creative, self-esteem building and social activities.<\/p>\n
U3A works to engage our membership in a stimulating, non-threatening environment, without pressures such as prior learning or exams.<\/p>\n
Many of the members are creative, crafty people and they\u2019ll be offering their creations for sale on Saturday, 13 October at Eastwood Leisure Complex, 20 Eastwood Street, Ballarat, from 9:00 am \u2013 1:00 pm.<\/p>\n
All items on display and available for purchase have been made by U3A members.<\/p>\n
U3A offers classes aimed at those seeking creative stimulation, instruction and inspiration.<\/p>\n
Included in the market is work from the book folding group \u2013 books folded into beautiful artwork, woodworking, silver and mixed media jewellery making, and sit and stitch classes.<\/p>\n
In addition to the items made in classes, U3A members will also be selling some of the creative things they have made at home.<\/p>\n
Everything from knitted pieces, scarves, cards, clothing and jewellery will be available for sale.<\/p>\n
The painting class will have some of their work on display and the U3A Celtic Band will have CDs for sale.<\/p>\n
Organisers said the event was a perfect opportunity to find unique, one-of-a-kind gifts for yourself, family members and friends.<\/p>\n
