AROUND the globe, one million plastic bottles are bought every minute with most ending up in landfill or in the ocean.<\/p>\n
Following on from its Be Smart Choose Tap hospitality initiative, encouraging the community to drink tap water from a refillable table jug rather than purchasing single use plastic bottles, Central Highlands Water has launched a student education program focusing in getting students to drink tap water instead of buying bottled water.<\/p>\n
The campaign kicked-off last week beside Lake Wendouree with pupils from Pleasant Street Primary School and help from Be Smart Choose Tap Ambassadors Steve Moneghetti and professional tennis player Zoe Hives.<\/p>\n
Both sports stars were on hand to talk about reducing waste and how great tap water is to rehydrate after sport.<\/p>\n
As part of the program CHW have donated over 40 free drinking water fountains across the region, in parks, sporting centres and schools, which people can find using the Be Smart Choose Tap app.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
