SIX months from conversation to delivery is how long it took to revamp the Montgomery Street Recreation Reserve for the Wendouree community.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat councillor Daniel Moloney grew up and went to school a hop skip and jump from the reserve at Forest Street Primary School.<\/p>\n
Cr Moloney was eagerly assisted by 8-year-old locals Cameron Schoenfelder and Cameron Ferguson to officially celebrate the revitalisation of a much-loved community asset.<\/p>\n
The two Camerons took it in turns to read a line each of the speech they wrote, finishing up with, \u201cThanks everyone for listening and coming.\u201d<\/p>\n
Revitalisation works included perimeter fencing, new football goal posts, a new drinking fountain, an extra rubbish bin and new shelter \u2013 already under construction and park seating – to come.<\/p>\n
The initiative is one of a number of community-led projects being delivered as part of the City of Ballarat\u2019s Engaging Communities Program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
