THE Lost Ones Basement Bar doesn\u2019t spring to mind as a traditional venue for Christmas Carols.<\/p>\n
But then this is no ordinary festive season sing along as the First Noel or Silent Night won\u2019t be on the program at this gig.<\/p>\n
Bar Choir organisers Mary Card and Paige Duggan and guitarist Harri Dale present Bah Humbug Christmas Bar Choir – a light-hearted Christmas special where contemporary Christmas pop songs will be sung by the audience on Tuesday, 12 December.<\/p>\n
Ms Card describes the event as, \u201cA little bit of fun at Christmas singing over the top Christmas songs.\u201d<\/p>\n
Having run the Bar Choir events at the venue since May she said, \u201cWe don\u2019t normally reveal the songs, that\u2019s part of the charm.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNormally do a warm up song, then the main song arranged in three-part harmony \u2013 a minimum of two but we might do three on this occasion.\u201d<\/p>\n
With seating capacity in the bar of 50 people, the night is run on a first come first seated basis however Ms Card said as they may be expecting close to 100, the choir may move upstairs into the larger space of the Lost Ones Gallery.<\/p>\n
The song\u2019s words projected for all to read, just like karaoke, which makes the choir singing an easy fun activity.<\/p>\n
\u201cBar Choir is not about performing it is about singing for the soul,\u201d said Ms Card.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s almost other worldly, the community connection you get by singing with other people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even if you sound like a wounded dog when you sing, come along for a very different Christmas choral experience.<\/p>\n
