SHE was one of the first people in twenty-five years ago and Norah Hopwood is still going strong at Rosebank Village in Sebastopol.<\/p>\n
Just turned 91, Mrs Hopwood puts her ongoing high-quality of life down to safety she feels in her home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s always something to go to,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s so alive, it\u2019s so happy, but most of all it\u2019s so safe. It\u2019s a beautiful place to come and live.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite some trepidation when she first moved in a quarter of a century ago, Mrs Hopwood said thing came good pretty quickly<\/p>\n
\u201cI found it a bit hard because I sort of felt I should have had more money, but as I went along I got used to it and now I wouldn\u2019t leave here for all the tea in China,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s safe, it\u2019s happy, there\u2019s always somewhere to go, something to do and a lot more.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs Hopwood grew up on a farm at the top of Mt Buninyong before marrying and moving to Gordon to raise a family.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s also worked in the hospitality, healthcare and customer service industries.<\/p>\n
\u201cI loved working,\u201d she said. \u201cEvery job I got I worked at for money and independence.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs Hopwood\u2019s also a mother, a grandmother and great-grandmother, with a new addition to her to her family due very soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m hoping it comes on my birthday,\u201d she said with a glowing smile.<\/p>\n
Now a days Mrs Hopwood is slowing down, but not by much.<\/p>\n
Her full life includes catching up with friends and other residents at the monthly roast dinners or tea and scone events.<\/p>\n
\u201cI still keep as busy as I can but I have to be careful I don\u2019t fall, I fall pretty easy,\u201d Mrs Hopwood said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a concert on today, so there\u2019s always something to go to.\u201d<\/p>\n
In 25 years at Rosebank Village Mrs Hopwood has experienced some change as residents have become more self-sufficient but she said some important things remained the same.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do a little bit more now but that\u2019s good for us anyway,\u201d she said. \u201cBut the happiness of it hasn\u2019t changed. You\u2019d always be happy here, no way has that changed.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
