FRIENDS of India Network played their annual Twenty20 cricket match in early-February.<\/p>\n
It was a closely contested game that saw the tables turn in the last three overs, with the Rest of Ballarat Raiders winning and taking 2-1 series lead over the Ballarat Indians Lions.<\/p>\n
The theme of this year\u2019s fundraising effort was a campaign to \u2018Strike out stroke,\u2019 with two months of hard work culminating in the annual cricket game at Ballarat Grammar Oval and gala fundraiser dinner at Mechanics Institute.<\/p>\n
Stroke affects 1 in 6 people, of all ages, and has far reaching effects on the patients, their families and the wider community.<\/p>\n
Much is being done to raise awareness and improve early detection, but more needs to be done both in acute management and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
Friends of India Network hope to have raised more than $10,000 this year, which will be directed to stroke management at Ballarat Health Services.<\/p>\n
While the exact fundraising total is still being worked out the Friends of India Network strongly urges all Ballarat residents to consider donating to the important and deserving cause.<\/p>\n
