A SUPERHERO is thought of as a comic book character, with super natural powers and super human strength who is dedicated to protecting humanity while fighting super villains.<\/p>\n
A Litter Super Hero on the other hand fights rubbish and protects the environment, keeping it safe and clean for mankind and womankind.<\/p>\n
Litter Super Heroes are a force for good when it comes to cleaning up litter on the highways and roads in Ballarat and the Grampians region.<\/p>\n
Grampians Central West Waste & Resource Recovery Group, the organisation behind the program, is calling for the community to not only be creative and develop a new kind of super hero but also to think what their super powers might be that will help fight litter.<\/p>\n
The Litter Super Hero competition, designed to be a positive reinforcement for good non-littering behaviour, has two categories, 12 years and under and 12 years and above.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are looking forward to seeing what kinds of super powers people will come up with,\u201d said La Vergne Lehmann, Grampians Central West WRRG executive officer.<\/p>\n
So far there is \u2018Eagle Eyed Emma\u2019 who is capable of spotting litter from any distance no matter how small and \u2018Go-Go Georgia\u2019 gets her rubbish in the right bin every time and loves to have a go at cleaning up.<\/p>\n
The competition will run until Friday, 15 March to coincide with the Clean Up Australia Day events across the region and a guest appearance by new Litter Super Heroes at Ballarat\u2019s Begonia Festival on Saturday, 9 March to Monday, 11 March.<\/p>\n
