THE team list for the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners first tilt at the first NBL1 championship is almost locked in.<\/p>\n
Two new additions have recently been announced with Kauny Kauny and Jordan Lingard added to the roster.<\/p>\n
Kauny is a 198cm tall forward who\u2019s coming off a season with the NBL\u2019s Cairns Taipans while Lingard, also a forward standing over 2m tall, has time at NCAA Div 2 via Whittier College and Colac Kookas in the Country Basketball League.<\/p>\n
Miners head coach, Brendan Joyce, said he was \u201cexcited\u201d about what both players would bring to the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe [Kauny] has a very versatile skill package and I believe he will flourish in a fast-paced style of play in multiple positions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is a quality person, a great role model for the Sudanese community and will be a great fit for our club.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kauny was also up beat on his move from Far North Queensland to the Central Highlands.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m definitely excited to come to Ballarat \u2026 I\u2019ve heard a lot of great things about the association, the people and the fans so I am looking forward to it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On Lingard Joyce said, \u201cWe are very excited to have Jordan come on board this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis dedication and hard work to basketball is exceptional. Being from the western region and working extremely hard to be part of the CBL and NBL1. He is a perfect role model for aspiring young athletes.\u201d<\/p>\n
For his part Lingard highlighted Joyce himself as a reason for signing with the Miners.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a huge opportunity for myself to play and learn under Brendan and get to know everyone within the community.\u201d Lingard said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am extremely excited to join the Ballarat Basketball organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lingard and Kauny join a long list of previously announced players who\u2019ll be suiting up for the Miners this season.<\/p>\n
