BALLARAT Expo on Thursday, 28 March is for those in the community who are blind or have low vision.<\/p>\n
Organised by Vision Australia, the Expo is an opportunity to learn about the range of services and products available that assist the sight impaired to live more independently.<\/p>\n
Vision Australia, a leading national provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia work with blind or have low vision community members to achieve the possibilities they choose in life.<\/p>\n
Michelle Ward, Vision Australia\u2019s coordinator of volunteers and community relations, said the aim of the expo is raise awareness in the community of the organisations work.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe encourage people who may be experiencing low visions problems to avail themselves of our services sooner rather than later so they can continue doing the things they love,\u201d Ms Ward said.<\/p>\n
The Expo will highlight the support available to assist with employment and will have on hand some of the retail items specifically designed to make life easier for people with low vision or blindness.<\/p>\n
Two workshops will deliver information on expert strategies to help around the home and the latest adaptive technology available to make life easier<\/p>\n
NDIS and My Aged Care experts will be on hand to advise and discuss funding plans.<\/p>\n
At 11am Irene Lim, a clinical orthoptist with Ballarat Eye Clinic will speak on the journey for the patient and how orthoptists work and what they do.<\/p>\n
While Katrina Lee, orthoptist with Vision Australia will discuss her role helping clients at the organisation.<\/p>\n
There will be a barbeque on the day and information will be available on Vision Australia\u2019s specialised library, social and support groups.<\/p>\n
Ballarat Expo is being held at Vision Australia, 1300 Howitt Street Wendouree on Thursday, 28 March from 10am to 2pm.<\/p>\n
