A NUMBER of Ballarat schools could be set for extra money if the ALP wins government next month.<\/p>\n
The Federal member for Ballarat, Catherine King, announced the funding for capital works projects with the shadow assistant minister for schools, Andrew Giles, at the Ballarat High School boast sheds on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
That school is in line to receive just over $76,000 for new lake side decking if Labor wins the election.<\/p>\n
\u201cBallarat High School\u2019s rowers and students will now have the high-quality facilities to match their skills and efforts,\u201d Ms King said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese students put in their time and effort, and I\u2019m delighted to be able to announce that a Labor Government would give them the support they need to get outside and get active.<\/p>\n
Across the Ballarat electorate eight schools could get capital works funding.<\/p>\n
They include $50,000 for a shade sail at Myrniong Primary school, $25,000 towards STEM facilities at Gordon Primary School, $20,000 for outdoor classroom at Creswick North Primary School, $18,000 on sheltered seating at Balliang East Primary School, $15,000 to upgrade the art space at Warrenheip Primary School, just under $12,000 towards the STEM lab at Canadian Lead Primary School and\u00a0 $9,182 towards a stage at Mount Blowhard Primary School.<\/p>\n
Principal of Ballarat High School said the funding would help with the overhaul of the school\u2019s rowing facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt allows us to continue on with the project of redeveloping and improving our boast sheds,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is targeted at the jetties, to make sure that they\u2019re modern, up to date, compliant and safe for our kids.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
