KRIS Kristofferson, the undisputed country music living legend, will be on stage at Civic Hall on Monday, 23 September as part of his Australian tour.<\/p>\n
He will be performing hits from the Kristofferson songbook with one of country music\u2019s favourite bands, The Strangers.<\/p>\n
Fans will see Kristofferson perform in the 1400 seat venue which now offers Ballarat the opportunity to host internationally acclaimed artists.<\/p>\n
Deputy Mayor Cr. Jim Rinaldi is planning on getting in quick for a ticket, which go on sale from Monday, 17 June.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe hasn\u2019t lost that magical touch that he had,\u201d Cr Rinaldi said. \u201cWe are the capital of western Victoria and this is only the beginning of something fantastic for our city.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe city is coming alive in our venues like Civic Hall.\u201d<\/p>\n
Daniel Henderson, City of Ballarat\u2019s Theatre Manager, said the Hall has a lot of history of showcasing entertainers and performances.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not new, Ballarat is known for music royalty coming to the town in the past,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
With the second stage of the works at Civic Hall underway entertainers, bands and their equipment will have easier backstage access which will allow a greater diversity of acts to use the space.<\/p>\n
The Wiggles, another internationally acclaim group, will be performing three shows at Civic Hall at the end of June.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey sold 2000 tickets in two days,\u201d Mr Henderson said.<\/p>\n
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is booked in for October and Mr Henderson hinted there are more exciting acts on the way.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile it\u2019s not booked our solidly yet, there are fewer dark days on the Civic Hall calendar than I expected,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
