{"id":22049,"date":"2019-06-12T12:08:49","date_gmt":"2019-06-12T02:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=22049"},"modified":"2019-06-13T08:24:03","modified_gmt":"2019-06-12T22:24:03","slug":"beauty-and-the-beast-comes-to-wendouree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/beauty-and-the-beast-comes-to-wendouree\/","title":{"rendered":"Beauty and the Beast comes to Wendouree"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BLOC Music Theatre Company is staging the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast as its annual production this month.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Tim Gay and starring Brittany Harbour as Belle with the Beast played by Alex Gay the performance will delight audiences with a fun night of music, laughter and tears.<\/p>\n<p>The poignant story of an arrogant prince who is cursed to live as a terrifying beast until he finds true love is bought to the stage by Ballarat\u2019s multi award-winning amateur theatre company.<\/p>\n<p>With a cast of around 60 adults and children and a full orchestra the show gives the local amateur theatre community, especially young people, a chance to shine.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s a great show for kids to not only perform in but to come along and see with their families,\u201d Peter Morey, BLOC life member said.<\/p>\n<p>Opening night, Saturday 29 June, is a community partnership charity event with BLOC and the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller, Ballarat Founding Group, raising funds for the Ballarat Hospice Care Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Five dollars from the sale of every ticket will go to the hospice organisation to assist with the construction of a palliative care hub in Lucas.<\/p>\n<p>Beauty and the Beast is at Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts, 1220 Howitt Street Wendouree from Saturday, 29 June to Sunday, 7 July at 7.30pm, with matinee shows on Saturday, 29 and Sunday 30, June and Saturday,6 July and Sunday, 7 July at 1.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $45 adults, $39 concession, $34 children and $130 family (2 adults, 2 children) via <strong>wpca.com.au<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BLOC Music Theatre Company is staging the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast as its annual production this month.
