{"id":22079,"date":"2019-06-12T12:48:57","date_gmt":"2019-06-12T02:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=22079"},"modified":"2019-06-13T08:23:38","modified_gmt":"2019-06-12T22:23:38","slug":"juniors-set-for-national-stage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/sport\/juniors-set-for-national-stage\/","title":{"rendered":"Juniors set for national stage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TWO young athletes from the region have been selected for the Track and Field State Team as part of the School Sport Australia Championship set for Darwin in September.<\/p>\n<p>The qualifiers are nine-year-old Jud Buckland from Pleasant Street Primary and Armani Anderson from Buninyong Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so excited to make the Victorian team,\u201d Jud said. \u201cWe travel together to Darwin wearing the Vic uniform and have an opening and closing ceremony.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A middle-distance runner, Jud said his pet event was the 800m and that there were many elements of athletics that he enjoyed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love the challenge of competing and striving to do my best and I like making new friends from other areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>A top-class sprinter for her age, Armani was elated following her qualification for the national school\u2019s event, soothing she\u2019s achieved before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I found out I was selected for Team VIC I was so excited and felt proud,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22127\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22127\" style=\"width: 138px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-22127\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/06\/IMG_9223-138x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"138\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/06\/IMG_9223-138x300.jpeg 138w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/06\/IMG_9223-768x1664.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/06\/IMG_9223-473x1024.jpeg 473w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/06\/IMG_9223-585x1268.jpeg 585w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/06\/IMG_9223.jpeg 886w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 138px) 100vw, 138px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Armani Anderson said the 100m was her favourite event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t wait to represent Victoria again this year because I have trained hard and improved since competing last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like Jud, Armani said there were a many great things about competing on a grad stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love athletics because you get to make so many new friendships,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to the 100m sprint because that\u2019s my favourite event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Competitors from the School Sport Victoria team have gone onto compete at national and international competitions including Olympic and Commonwealth games and world championships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TWO young athletes from the region have been selected for the Track and Field State Team as part of the School Sport Australia Championship set for Darwin in September.
