KELLIE Tait founded AAA Sports Ballarat as a safe place for all abilities kids to play sport.<\/p>\n
When she took her son Cooper who has autism to the local Auskick program with 100 children and one coach, three and a half years ago, she knew it wasn\u2019t going to work.<\/p>\n
AAA Sports exists to provide introductory sporting opportunities for children with\u00a0 special needs and disabilities.<\/p>\n
The organisation was this year\u2019s recipient of Ballarat Scenic Cyclists Club\u2019s annual fundraising event.<\/p>\n
Ms Tait said she was very grateful and surprised to receive the donation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sure how they found me and AAA Sports, but the money will come in handy to go towards new equipment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe use special stands for the kids in wheelchairs and we use balls with bells inside for blind children.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shirley McIver, Treasurer of the cycling club was at the Ballarat Sportswomen Presentation Dinner when Ms Tait received an award.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought it sounded like a terrific organisation so I put AAA Sports forward when we were deciding who we should donate to this year,\u201d Ms McIver said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
