HUY Nguyen was installed as President of the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Outgoing President Elissa Ritchie, presented Mr Nguyen with his regalia in front of his family and over 80 Rotarians at a changeover lunch at the North Ballarat Sports Club.<\/p>\n
Mr Nguyen is the Deputy Director of Radiography and Diagnostic Services at Ballarat Health Services.<\/p>\n
He was two years old when his father escaped from Vietnam and aged 10 when the family was re-united in Melbourne in 1992.<\/p>\n
Mr Nguyen joined the Rotary Club because he felt a personal need to give back to the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a desire to help out and Rotary members are people of action so it was a great fit,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to break the notion that you have to be retired to be part of Rotary.\u201d<\/p>\n
He has been a member for four years and says he is still learning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to lead by example to encourage younger people to consider Rotary membership,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Rotary Connects the World is an apt theme for the 2019-20 Rotary year over which Mr Nguyen and his incoming leadership team will preside.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
