RED Nose Day, on Friday, 9 August, aims to raise money to fund vital research that will help save the lives of babies and children, provide safe sleeping education and bereavement support services.<\/p>\n
Since the event was started, in 1989 by families who wanted to get silly for a serious cause, the $17 million raised has funded ongoing research and education programs.<\/p>\n
Keren Ludski, Red Nose CEO is encouraging Australians to get behind Red Nose Day this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to unlock the reasons why babies continue to die, and keep our vital support services going so families can continue to access free 24\/7 counselling and support for as long as they need it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Red Nose suggests a variety of ways to get involved on its special day.<\/p>\n
Members of the community could set up a stall to sell merchandise, host a morning tea, organise a kid\u2019s concert or put on a Little Rocker Red Nose Disco at the local child care centre and playgroup.<\/p>\n
By signing up for a disco, iHeartRadio will provide the music to organisations for a fundraising day of disco-dancing and fun-filled activities.<\/p>\n
Families or individuals can create an online fundraising page which gives friends, work colleagues, fellow sports team members, in fact anyone, an easy way to support your event.<\/p>\n
There is an array of Red Nose Day products available for purchase online or at Big W.<\/p>\n
Buy enough of the iconic red noses for each member of the family to wear on the day and post a selfie or boomerang video because looking funny is a great way to raise much needed funding.<\/p>\n
