SUNDAY, 21 July was a perfect winter day for bike racing. Not too cold, dry roads and sunshine.<\/p>\n
Race 5 of Eureka Cycling Club\u2019s Europa Cafe & Hopscotch Cafe Winter Aggregate Race Series saw graded divisions race three laps of a 17.5km circuit. The points race format provided plenty of sprint action as riders contested for points at the end of each lap.<\/p>\n
Kevin Lee proved too fast in Division 4. A close battle in Division 3 saw Brian Ure win on the last sprint, while Scott Keating provided a masterclass in sprinting in Division 2, winning each lap.<\/p>\n
The large Division 1 field had an enthralling battle of tactics and high speed, however Jason Hendry was too powerful.<\/p>\n
Next weekend the club contest the GP Doug Garley. The short 43km race includes dirt sections and is a classic event on the Eureka Cycling race calendar.<\/p>\n
Results – Division 1 – 1st – Jason Hendry, 7 pts, 2nd – Jason Shipcott, 4 pts, 3rd – Shane Clarke, 2 pts
