THE vegetables in the garden beds at the Food is Free Green Space could soon have labels to help community members better identify and use the plants.<\/p>\n

Food is Free is a finalist in the environment category of the Canon Oceania\u2019s Grants program.<\/p>\n

If they are the winners of the $5000 grant it will provide equipment for creating plant identification systems, both digital and weather-proof print versions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to be a finalist, winning would mean the world to us,\u201d said Lou Ridsdale, Food is Free founder.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to be able to educate our visitors on what to do with the vegies and how easy and fun it is to grow them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The overall winners of the grants will be chosen by public vote.<\/p>\n
