BALLAARAT Mechanic\u2019s Institute is selling some of its most sought after and beautiful leather-bound folio society books and parliamentary papers.<\/p>\n
Together with standard fiction and non-fiction titles, vintage magazines and newspapers the book sale is a bibliophile\u2019s dream.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs part of the Ballarat International FOTO Biennale\u2019s EAT.DRINK.SLEEP.PLAY program we are encouraging residents and visitors alike to head down and pick up a book you can snuggle up with,\u201d Paula Nicholson, Ballaarat Mechanic\u2019s Institute board member said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are lots of old antique looking books that are treasures in many ways, content wise and visually, appealing to anyone looking for interior design through to avid historians.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a load of old newspapers that are useful for researchers as well as recently read fiction from our lending library.\u201d<\/p>\n
The items on sale are generally duplicates or things that don\u2019t fit in the BMI collection criteria such as privately donated objects.<\/p>\n
This special event offers items which are very reasonably priced and good value and the funds raised will go to the conservation and curation of the BMI collection.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to be part of the Biennale program, we are hoping to appeal to a much broader audience than we would normally have access to,\u201d Ms Nicholson said.<\/p>\n
The book sale is in the Hugh Williamson Foyer at Ballaarat Mechanics\u2019 Institute, 117-119 Sturt Street Ballarat from Friday, 13 September to Sunday, 15 September.<\/p>\n
Open hours Friday 11am to 5.15pm and Saturday and Sunday 11am to 4pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
