{"id":24610,"date":"2019-09-17T13:09:36","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T03:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=24610"},"modified":"2019-09-17T13:09:36","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T03:09:36","slug":"return-gig-for-lola-in-linton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/return-gig-for-lola-in-linton\/","title":{"rendered":"Return gig for LOLA in Linton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THERE may not be mobile boxes chasing people down Linton\u2019s main street but there are more treats in store when LOLA, the Linton On Literary Arts festival returns in October.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend of Saturday, 26 and Sunday 27 October LOLA will once again open Linton to the community and visitors, said Kylie Turville, Linton and District Progress Association President.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are talking to Jesse Stevens and Dean Petersen, the two guys behind Cake Industries who were the creators of that crazy animatronic, with the hope of having them in the festival again,\u201d Ms Turville said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also interested in hearing from any local artists who would like to be involved in LOLA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking for anyone local to the area who would like to display their work in a very non-judgemental and easy way in the town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is anticipated the festival will be not quite as big as last year.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday\u2019s focus will be on the displays and exhibitions of artworks with one local resident currently working on a war memorial display.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday is all about entertainment and live shows, with the Railway Hotel hosting two performances of the play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlues and folk duo Trudy and Phil Edgeley will be performing an intimate Saturday night dinner and show,\u201d Ms Turville said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still in the throes of finalising the venue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Progress Association is also on the lookout for community volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really need help with setting up each day and would love to have locals available to show people around the town,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLOLA is all about Linton being open, so the locals and out of towners can spend time getting to know and enjoy the town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Interested Artists and volunteers can message LOLA at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/lintonOnLiteraryArts\"><strong>facebook.com\/lintonOnLiteraryArts<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THERE may not be mobile boxes chasing people down Linton\u2019s main street but there are more treats in store when LOLA, the Linton On Literary Arts festival returns in October.
