Home builder had almost 4500 starts over last 12 months, over 1000 more than any other company<\/strong><\/p>\n

METRICON has been named Australia\u2019s number one home builder for the fourth year in a row with the release of the HIA Colorbond Steel Housing Top 100 Report.<\/p>\n

The Housing Top 100 report, which ranks Australia\u2019s top 100 residential builders based on the number of home builds commenced each year, saw Metricon top the list with a total of 4473 starts nationally, primarily across Victoria.<\/p>\n

Metricon Director Peter Langfelder said that they were delighted to be ranked number one for the fourth consecutive year and to have grown Metricon\u2019s share of the national residential build market.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is testament to our national team, our passion for what we do, and the Australian families we do it for,\u201d Mr Langfelder said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Langfelder also acknowledged the important role regional communities have played in Metricon\u2019s growth. \u201cWhile we have seen the national residential build market in difficult times this past year, the markets in regional Victoria have largely stayed buoyant.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a high demand for quality home builds in regional Victoria, and this has helped us to maintain our position as Australia\u2019s top home builder.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have been able to achieve what we have in regional Victoria without the in-depth knowledge, expertise and hard work of our local staff, local trades and local suppliers.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir dedication means we\u2019ve been able to deliver homes that are matched to the unique lifestyles and needs of our regional customers.
\n\u201cWe\u2019re committed to continually developing new homes and creating jobs in regional Victoria to meet the housing needs of every Australian family,\u201d Mr Langfelder concluded.<\/p>\n

Other builders in region to make the Top 20 were Simonds Group at 2580 starts, Burbank Group at 1963 starts, GJ Gardner at 1949 starts, Dennis Family Homes at 1225 starts and JG King at 1028 starts.<\/p>\n

The HIA said that this has been an exceptional result considering it has been a challenging year for home builders as the number of new home starts has contracted sharply.<\/p>\n

Overall the market has contracted by 15 per cent, similarly, the number of new homes constructed by the Housing 100 builders was smaller, falling 6 per cent. The market share of the Housing 100 builders has increased to 35 per cent this year from 33 per cent in 2017\/18.<\/p>\n

This is the highest market share since 2013\/14 and is consistent with previous trends where volume home builders gained market share in a contracting market. This year\u2019s results also highlight that the hotspots for building activity have shifted.<\/p>\n

Home building businesses in Sydney have experienced a sharper contraction in the number of new home starts than other jurisdictions.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the home building market in Melbourne remains exceptionally strong despite a modest cooling over the year.<\/p>\n
