STUDENTS from across the region have been acknowledged for their efforts in creating posters for Central Highlands Water as part of National Water Week<\/p>\n
The 113 posters contained messages about the importance of clean, accessible water to the community and the environment.<\/p>\n
CHW Managing Director, Paul O’Donoghue, said the quality and tone of the messages reflected the role young people are playing in environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re seeing a real trend where children and teenagers have taken on a proactive theme around what they want to see their world look like,\u201d he said. \u201cWater is a really important part of that and the continued interest by all of the kids who have put applications in shows water, and all of those things around humanity and what\u2019s going on in the world, are really important to them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now in its running for the 26th time, this year\u2019s poster competition theme was \u2018It\u2019s time to change the world\u2019 with pupils from grades prep to 6 submitting entries.<\/p>\n
Winners received a bike and gift pack valued at $250 while runners up got a scooter voucher and prizes to the tune of $150.<\/p>\n
The winners were – Prep – Levon Carroll, Hepburn Primary School, runner up – Coco Draffin, Skipton Primary School. Grades 1 and 2 – Ruby Sim, Skipton, runner up Aurora Rowe, Hepburn. Grades 3 and 4 – Darcy Wood, Carisbrook Primary School, runner up Harry Collins, Skipton. Grades 5 and 6 – Henry Wendels, runner up Damian McDougall, both from Carisbrook.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
