GOLDEN Plains Shire councillor David Evans has announced he will not seek re-election in 2020. Cr Evans made the statement following the vote for Mayor last week.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going anywhere near this place again,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ll be out. I\u2019ve had a gutful.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was on the ratepayer association for three years fighting council. Going to meeting after meeting, going through budgets, putting in submissions. I understand it inside out, to get on here and do a good job, [and] what do I get?<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve wasted basically six years of my life\u2026 we haven\u2019t achieved a single thing that I wanted to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cr Evans stood for the role of Mayor but couldn\u2019t find a seconder and had to drop out of the race.<\/p>\n
\u201cSeeing as I\u2019m the hardest working councillor in the Shire, without a doubt, to go to every meeting fully briefed, read every single document, know the finances. It\u2019s me who understands it all,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFundamentally I\u2019ve been shit in the face. I got on council to be open and consultative and to be honest, and they hate it. They hate me when I say the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
