{"id":65900,"date":"2019-12-12T05:54:25","date_gmt":"2019-12-11T18:54:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=65900"},"modified":"2019-12-10T11:21:53","modified_gmt":"2019-12-10T00:21:53","slug":"trio-to-sing-with-carols-guest-of-honour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/trio-to-sing-with-carols-guest-of-honour\/","title":{"rendered":"Trio to sing with Carols\u2019 guest of honour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHEN Santa arrives at <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/community-carols-to-continue-at-christmas\/\">Ballarat Carols by Candlelight<\/a> presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/real-estate\/community-behind-carols-support\/\">Harcourts<\/a> on Sunday, 22 December, he\u2019ll be guided in with some musical help from fresh faces.<\/p>\n<p>Three young singers, Dana Reynolds, Freya McGowan and Layne Frawley will perform children\u2019s favourites together as Father Christmas lands at the City Oval.<\/p>\n<p>All rising, passionate musical theatre stars, they\u2019ve all performed across Ballarat and Melbourne, with Dana even treading the boards up north in Newcastle, and as far as Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts teacher Paula Heenan guides Freya and Dana, while Layne is under the tuition of Carolyn Bennett.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Heenan said it was an honour for her students to be asked to perform at the Carols, having been heard at other events throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are an example of kids that say yes to everything that pops up for them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve both been involved with lots of high-profile events before, so they\u2019re very confident and have represented us at the basketball stadium singing the national anthem, but this is a very exiting new venture for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve certainly enjoyed rehearsing with Layne and with the others involved in the program, and they\u2019ll both be singing with the BCMA Vocal Ensemble in the mass choir as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mainly ushering the \u201cbig fellow in the red suit\u201d around the stage, Dana, Freya and Layne will get the children attending the Carols involved in some very simple, well known songs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ll be leading everybody in the audience along in song, so hopefully the crowd will all sing along with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud of them and grateful for the opportunity. It\u2019s very nice to be invited,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Providing chances like this for local young talent to shine is \u201cabsolutely important\u201d to Ms Heenan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe find opportunities all the time for our kids to do productions and performances outside of what we offer.
