{"id":67905,"date":"2020-03-27T05:55:57","date_gmt":"2020-03-26T18:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=67905"},"modified":"2020-03-24T13:49:50","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T02:49:50","slug":"young-lyric-theatre-rising-star-lands-new-directors-award-gong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/young-lyric-theatre-rising-star-lands-new-directors-award-gong\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Lyric Theatre rising star lands new Directors Award gong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLARAT Lyric Theatre has presented its very first Director\u2019s Award to a young performer, for his dedication to the recent production of <em>Les Miserable<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Brandon Moore-Trye was nominated as the recipient of the inaugural honour at the Lyric Theatre\u2019s gala night on Saturday, 29 February.<\/p>\n<p>The 17-year-old was a member of the ensemble but had a named roll of Montparnasse, who is a member of Thenardiers\u2019 gang.<\/p>\n<p>Moore-Trye said Ballarat Lyric Theatre provided a comfortable and engaging environment to perform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI most enjoyed the community in our production of <em>Les Mis<\/em>, it was so easy to perform when we all felt like a big family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For nearly three years Moore-Trye has been acting in productions and he said he\u2019s loved every moment of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy acting because it gives me a sense of euphoria I can\u2019t quite explain, whenever I do it, I can be whoever I want to be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for the prize, a cast member had to demonstrate immense commitment to the stage play.<\/p>\n<p>Ever the improviser, Moore-Trye did not even know that he was going to receive the award until it was given to him on the gala night.<\/p>\n<p>He said there are many people to thank for the decoration, as almost everyone in his life has helped shape and refine his talent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank everyone who I worked with in our production, everyone felt so supportive and easy to work with. I also want to thank my mum who took so much time out of her life to help me,\u201d Brandon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would also like to thank director, Stephen Armati for every opportunity he has given me since I first met him, he has always pushed me to be better and I wouldn\u2019t be who I am without him.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BALLARAT Lyric Theatre has presented its very first Director\u2019s Award to a young performer, for his dedication to the recent production of Les Miserable.
