IT\u2019S time to pull on your thinking caps and start designing a winter cap that you want to see being worn around the country.<\/p>\n

Interknit\u2019s \u2018Lockdown 2020\u2019 competition is encouraging budding fashion designers to channel their experiences dealing with COVID-19 into the form of a beanie.<\/p>\n

The winning design will be manufactured at Ballarat based knitwear makers factory and sold across Australia.<\/p>\n

Managing director Andrew Blaszak said the competition aims to bring support and awareness to Australian businesses during these tough times.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout this time in lockdown, we\u2019ve all noticed the importance of supporting Australian products,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this competition, our contestants have the chance to become a part of something Australian made.\u201d<\/p>\n

People of all ages can submit a design for free to the contest, with no technical knitting experience required.<\/p>\n

The winning designer will receive one manufactured beanie with their creation, a $100 gift voucher to spend both instore and online at Interknit, plus the opportunity to direct 15 per cent of beanie profits to a charity of their choice.<\/p>\n

Mr Blaszak said designs can be submitted through any medium.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t expect you to submit a knitted beanie, we just want the blueprints for a beanie,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis means that you can send in a drawing of your beanie, or a design that you\u2019ve created on the computer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beanie designs can be submitted until 11.59pm on Thursday, 30 April with the shortlisted designs announced the very next day.<\/p>\n

The general public will then vote on the best beanie, with voting closing on Sunday, 10 May. The winner will be announced on Monday, 11 May.<\/p>\n
