BALLARAT\u2019S avian attraction, Bird World has reopened its doors after three month\u2019s closure during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
Resuming just in time for the school holiday rush, the Mount Helen park has been in operation for the entire 17 days since the academic break.<\/p>\n
Bird World\u2019s owners Paul and Lisa Sperber said they were glad to finally welcome visitors back into the premises.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s our private oasis in the middle of Ballarat and it\u2019s nice to see it busy again,\u201d said Mrs Sperber.<\/p>\n
While statewide restrictions forced their business to temporarily close, the pair took the opportunity to tend to some maintenance.<\/p>\n
Mrs Sperper said it was a great time to break ground on attractions they had planned aimed to diversify the park.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the period we were shut we started building a timber maze, a new picnic area and a mini golf course,\u201d Mrs Sperber said. \u201cWe hope to have the maze finished for the September holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n
With slight operational tweaks in place, visitors can still enjoy the beautiful surrounds, free flying flocks of birds and even take photos with the black cockatoos.<\/p>\n
Mr and Mrs Sperber said they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of those who enter the park.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just make sure when we are taking photos that we\u2019re 1.5 metres away and we put a Perspex barrier up in the kiosk and we also have signs in the kiosk and hand sanitiser,\u201d Mrs Sperber said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s pretty easy to stick to the rules though because we are an outdoor attraction.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
