{"id":70248,"date":"2020-08-06T04:56:59","date_gmt":"2020-08-05T18:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=70248"},"modified":"2020-07-31T10:00:50","modified_gmt":"2020-07-31T00:00:50","slug":"uni-site-set-for-jobs-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/uni-site-set-for-jobs-boost\/","title":{"rendered":"Uni site set for jobs boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE jobs are set to launch at Federation University\u2019s Technology Park thanks to the expansion of the<span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0Concentrix call centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Currently in the late stages of construction, the extension of the university building was funded by a $350,000 grant from the Victorian government in a bid to create more jobs in the regions.<\/p>\n<p>The Mount Helen campus is set to welcome approximately 130 new jobs over the next two months as the new customer experience contact centre prepares to open for business.<\/p>\n<p>The executive director of Federation University\u2019s Technology Park Jeff Pulford was joined by Concentrix Manager David Fotheringham at the site to announce the funding.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pulford said it was the next step in a six-year relationship that the university has with the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing about to expand today is a good opportunity for us and the company,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFed Uni Technology Parks host in excess of 2200 jobs and this funding will help on build on that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to make these opportunities available to students, but we also welcome Concentrix hiring community members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This announcement will not only help to expand Federation University\u2019s and Concentrix\u2019s operational relationship, but hopes to boost jobs in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Wendouree Julianna Addison said it\u2019s great to see an incoming amount of secure and well paid jobs right here on campus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a win for students and for the community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will become a place, not only to study but also for students to work and build for their future careers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents will be encouraged to apply but the whole community will have the opportunity to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The funding comes as part of the government\u2019s $2.6 billion program for building up regional and rural Victoria, which support infrastructure projects in these areas.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle said that this project is going to be an enormous boost for jobs in Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government understands that jobs are going to be a big part in the road to recovery following the pandemic,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany call centre jobs have been overseas and it\u2019s fantastic to move those jobs back on our shores, to our state and to Ballarat\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE jobs are set to launch at Federation University\u2019s Technology Park thanks to the expansion of the\u00a0Concentrix call centre.
