THE team at the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Community are excited to launch its podcast series this month.<\/p>\n

Hosted by BRMC board member Bobby Mehta, the audio show called Community Matters will discuss projects and stories with industry leaders from Ballarat.<\/p>\n

For the pilot episode Mr Mehta interviewed Dr Sundram Sivamalai the former Victorian Multicultural Commissioner to offer some insight into handling the current COVID-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had great ideas around measures people can take for the current pandemic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking forward, we\u2019ve got Cafs lined up to share about some really important work they are doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also invite other members of the community to come on board who are running workshops or projects that we feel people will benefit from hearing about.\u201d<\/p>\n

This project is one of the many ways BRMC aims to empower migrant residents, educate members and connect the regional community.<\/p>\n

Executive officer of BRMC Ann Foley said the podcast fits in perfectly with the existing projects within the multicultural support group.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of our work is connecting people who otherwise would have a lot of trouble doing so,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe podcast is all about having conversations about things happening in the city for people in the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel that we have this enormous possible harvest of conversations and as people hear the interviews, hopefully it will spark that extra interest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Mehta added, \u201cI hope that this series will remind listeners that community does matter, especially in a time like this because that\u2019s what BRMC are all about.\u201d<\/p>\n
