{"id":70884,"date":"2020-09-02T04:53:24","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T18:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=70884"},"modified":"2020-09-02T11:24:10","modified_gmt":"2020-09-02T01:24:10","slug":"gallery-seeking-new-cafe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/gallery-seeking-new-cafe\/","title":{"rendered":"Gallery seeking new caf\u00e9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OVERLOOKING Lydiard Street, the caf\u00e9 space within the Ballarat Art Gallery, formerly Kittlety\u2019s, is seeking a new operator.<\/p>\n<p>While the Gallery is currently closed due to pandemic restrictions, gallery director Louise Tegart said her team are pleased to offer the commercial opportunity to develop a partnership with a new proprietor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re looking for somebody that has an alignment with the Gallery in terms of our mission which is to make art accessible to everybody,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome might consider it to be a challenging time to be entering a new business arrangement but it\u2019s also a really great opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had Kittlety\u2019s here for five years, so these opportunities don\u2019t come up very often.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although the caf\u00e9 will operate as a separate entity, Ms Tegart said there are a variety of ways it would reap benefits from being an integrated part of the Gallery experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe welcome over 200,000 people through the Gallery a year so there\u2019s a ready-made audience for their business along with the marketing opportunities that come with being a part of the institution,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother benefit of the space is the physical location of being right in the centre of town, in the most historical part of Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe caf\u00e9 is just as much part of the experience of the Gallery as the exhibitions, the shop and public programs are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the caf\u00e9, the potential operators will also have access to the extensive commercial kitchen at the Camp Street side of the building specifically for catering the Gallery\u2019s social events.<\/p>\n<p>Although the proprietor will have access to both the caf\u00e9 and extra kitchen space, Ms Tegart said she hopes they will bring something else to the table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe caf\u00e9 should be able to attract people not solely because it is a part of the Gallery but because it has great atmosphere, great food and great coffee on its own,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interests are now open and must be lodged at <a href=\"https:\/\/eprocure.com.au\/ballarat\/invite-login.asp?next=%2Fballarat%2Ftender%2Dsummary%2Easp%3FtenderID%3D26563\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eprocure.com.au\/ballarat<\/a> or posted to Louise Tegart, Director, Art Gallery of Ballarat, PO Box 655, Ballarat, 3353 by 4 September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OVERLOOKING Lydiard Street, the caf\u00e9 space within the Ballarat Art Gallery, formerly Kittlety\u2019s, is seeking a new operator.
