BALLARAT Miners youth head co-coach Ryan McKew is painting his nails, initiating important conversations and raising funds through the Polished Man campaign.<\/p>\n

Taking on the challenge, he hopes to support trauma prevention and recovery programs for children who are at risk of or who have suffered violence.<\/p>\n

McKew said he was passionate about supporting the program and wanted to create awareness of the initiative through fundraising and painting a nail.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have worked with a number of at risk youth and have sadly been involved with many youth that have experienced violence as a child,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne billion children have experienced violence in the last year alone, that\u2019s half the world\u2019s children.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that no child should have to miss out on their childhood due to violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nature of the challenge is to paint one nail with the aim of sparking conversations with those around you to inspire learning and donations.<\/p>\n

McKew said these donations will hopefully allow for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very fortunate to do what I do and have the chance to impact young lives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy joining Polished Man I\u2019m hopefully getting the young people I work with to see that they can impact the world and every little effort counts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always believed my role as a coach is bigger than winning games, it impacts lives in a positive manner.\u201d<\/p>\n
