HOMEGROWN musical talent, Lachnes, or Lachlan Reeves, was busy over lockdown and has just released his latest single.<\/p>\n

The track is titled In a Mood and comes in anticipation for his forthcoming EP which, Reeves said, is set for release mid-November.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always listened to music and interested in the scene and I started making music in 2018 as a bit of fun and progressively I found myself loving all the different parts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince I\u2019m studying music, it\u2019s become my whole life and made me realise how much I want to pursue it and develop my own sound.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I write about is about heartbreak and love, I try to put my own perspective on things and make it unique to me and I hope it feels authentic while also being relatable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Combining notes of pop and hip hop with an upbeat melody, Reeves said he wrote the song about doubting yourself when you\u2019re in a relationship and realising it was worth the risks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this new song and the EP, I worked with my long-time producer, Keanu, and we started making music in January this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe EP is a story, there\u2019s four songs, two are positive and two are negative, which revolve around the experiences of being in a relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pre-COVID, the Ballarat based musician had just begun breaking into the industry and participated and performed at a series of shows throughout the region.<\/p>\n

Throughout this journey, Reeves said he\u2019s felt incredibly supported by Ballarat\u2019s local music industry and that other talents have even helped him get gigs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s hip hop nights at The Eastern which they asked me to come to and I did and really enjoyed it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI performed at the Begonia Festival, and the manager told me they would love to have me on their continuous cycle of artists and book me when they need someone.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a part of Sonika Records which is a youth community music collective to help local artists do their thing and through them I was even nominated for the most influential artist award in Ballarat.\u201d<\/p>\n

While he\u2019s still finding his feet within the local scene, Reeves said he\u2019s excited to get back into live performances and collaborating with other musicians when it\u2019s safe to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment, my communications are being sharpened to develop a supportive fan base that I can rely on so I don\u2019t have to let algorithms dictate my success,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut after my EP is out, I\u2019ll be looking to collaborate with local artists, perform where I can and just get myself out there.\u201d<\/p>\n
