{"id":72791,"date":"2020-11-20T04:56:42","date_gmt":"2020-11-19T17:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=72791"},"modified":"2020-11-17T13:47:52","modified_gmt":"2020-11-17T02:47:52","slug":"first-covid-safe-festival-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/first-covid-safe-festival-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"First COVID-safe festival announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KICKING off the incoming music and arts season with a bang, the SummerSalt Festival is set to go ahead early next year.<\/p>\n<p>Located in Lake Wendouree\u2019s North Gardens, the live outdoor concert aims to bring together the best of the Australia summer with national musical and creative talent.<\/p>\n<p>SummerSalt and Red Hot Tour regional touring promoter Duane McDonald said the team are hoping for a successful second run of the festival here in Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis time around, it will be a different setting and we\u2019ll be following whatever the Victorian health guidelines are at the time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThings are changing every week and as restrictions get released, it\u2019s going to be a bit of a moving picture until we get closer to the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a low-key family style event at North Gardens which has plenty of space as the site there has 35,000 square metres so there\u2019s plenty of room for social distancing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taking place Sunday afternoon February 28, the diverse line-up includes The Teskey Brothers, The Cat Empire, John Butler, Boy &amp; Bear, Montaigne and Emily Wurramara.<\/p>\n<p>Since the festival\u2019s initial announcement, Mr McDonald said it\u2019s obvious people are excited and as a result tickets have been selling well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully things stay positive in Victoria but it\u2019s good to have something to look forward to and ticket sales have reflected that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMusicians, crew, technicians, people in this industry, had their livelihood taken away this year and it started to take a toll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, it\u2019s good for them to have something to look forward to as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the event, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/summersaltmusic.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>summersaltmusic.com.au<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KICKING off the incoming music and arts season with a bang, the SummerSalt Festival is set to go ahead early next year.
