LORETO College\u2019s year 10 students have created and donated eighty packs of essential supplies to Child and Family Services.<\/p>\n
As part of their community service work, the pupils put together care packages at home, filled with toiletries, sanitary items, nappies, non-perishable food, books, stationery and toys.<\/p>\n
With Cafs\u2019 vulnerable clients in mind, from parents to small children, teenagers to babies, 16-year-old Alyssa Moloney said her grade knew this was \u201cnot just a little project.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were actually going to be helping someone. It helped us understand how privileged we are in our position at Loreto, so we need to use that privilege to help other people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Cafs CEO Wendy Sturgess was grateful to receive the packs and meet some of the young women who put them together.<\/p>\n
Clients in \u201cdesperate\u201d need of essentials, whether that be a toothbrush and toothpaste, or toys, will receive these packages over the coming months.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese people are in extremely vulnerable situations and some, including young children who are placed in emergency out-of-home care, have had to leave home with just the clothes on their backs,\u201d Ms Sturgess said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese items are not only physically essential, they also help clients feel loved and cared for, that someone out there has got their back. It makes a world of difference to someone in a dire situation, such as finding themselves homeless or having to flee family violence.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis generous donation is a testament to the young women\u2019s community service, and I thank them on behalf of Cafs and our clients.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
