{"id":73738,"date":"2021-01-09T04:56:08","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T17:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=73738"},"modified":"2021-01-09T09:17:51","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T22:17:51","slug":"sisters-make-splash-in-the-beauty-scene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/sisters-make-splash-in-the-beauty-scene\/","title":{"rendered":"Sisters make splash in the beauty scene"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SINCE beginning their hair and beauty journeys, opening a salon as a family unit seemed inevitable for sisters Maddi and Holly New.<\/p>\n<p>Now the proud co-owners of Studio Canvas, Holly said they have both come a long way from learning to spray tan and hair dress in their kitchen years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt all started in my mum&#8217;s kitchen with my sister Maddi showing me how to spray tan my friends,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter creating my brand Tans by Holly, I teamed up with Australia\u2019s biggest tanning company Bondi Sands who sent me litres of<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_73740\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73740\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-73740\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/Inside-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-73740\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The interior set up at Studio Canvas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>professional spray tan to fundraise for the Beyond Blue Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA year later I got into make-up, and started Made By Holly where I offered spray tans, makeup, lash lifts and brow services and it wasn\u2019t until three years later until Maddi and I decided start something of our own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After also realising from a young age her passion for hair and beauty, Maddi said after working for Alfredton Hair and Beauty, she knew it was time to branch out on her own.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt all really started from going to work with mum and seeing the passion she had for the job, that\u2019s when I realised I wanted to pursue the same profession,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea of having our own salon has always been a big dream of ours and it\u2019s something we\u2019ve wanted since starting out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking people feel good in their own skin is so fulfilling for me and that\u2019s why I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the studio space having been in the pipeline for over a year, Holly said they enlisted help from Ash Gercovich from Oasis Build to help bring the final vision for the space together.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_73741\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73741\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-73741\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/Treatment-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-73741\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Holly New offering one of her clients an eye brow treatment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe knew what we wanted but needed some guidance and wow, she nailed it,\u201d she said. \u201cWe felt Ballarat had a gap in the market for something up to date, fun, fresh and relaxing, yet stylish.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe space was designed to be simple yet functional, we wanted to create an oasis somewhere to step in and you can switch off and enjoy some time for self-care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Offering a wide range of services including hair, make up, spray tans, lash lifts, brow services, Holly she and her sister looking forward to continuing and even expanding the business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaddi and myself spent 2020 pouring everything we had into this project but nothing worth having comes easy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery client that has walked into our space has nothing other than beautiful words to say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur clients are the heart of the business and we both could not have been more blessed with the uplifting clients that walk into our salon.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SINCE beginning their hair and beauty journeys, opening a salon as a family unit seemed inevitable for sisters Maddi and Holly New.
