{"id":73918,"date":"2021-01-14T04:54:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T17:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=73918"},"modified":"2021-01-13T14:47:17","modified_gmt":"2021-01-13T03:47:17","slug":"aaa-sports-scenic-cyclists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/aaa-sports-scenic-cyclists\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclists boost all-abilities junior athletes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLARAT Scenic Cyclists\u2019 annual President\u2019s Ride has raised funds for local not-for-profit, Access All Abilities Sports.<\/p>\n<p>The charity, which creates sporting opportunities for young people between the ages of five and 16 who live with a disability, received a cheque for $350.<\/p>\n<p>AAA Sports Ballarat founder Kellie Tait said her team \u201crely on donations like this\u201d to ensure their programs can continue to run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis past year\u2019s been particularly difficult for us with COVID, and it\u2019s been an especially tough year for our children with disabilities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur young people have really missed the opportunity to be able to play sport, so we\u2019re really excited to be able to get our programming back up and running in term one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter what their disability is, we make sure we\u2019re able to cater for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ballarat Scenic Cyclists president Alex Brisbane said the President\u2019s Ride always raises funds for a charity, with members cycling to Kirk\u2019s Reservoir and enjoying a barbecue together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the second time we\u2019ve donated to AAA Sports. We ask members to suggest charities, and this was the most suitable group for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For more than 25 years, BSC has welcomed mainly retired and semi-retired members of all experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The inclusive club heads out on different rides across the city multiple times a week, and on a longer ride of 30 to 50 kilometers once a month.
