{"id":74042,"date":"2021-01-21T04:54:27","date_gmt":"2021-01-20T17:54:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=74042"},"modified":"2021-01-21T09:48:33","modified_gmt":"2021-01-20T22:48:33","slug":"summer-fun-milkshakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/summer-fun-milkshakes\/","title":{"rendered":"Shake-up and cool down this summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOSPITALITY venues across Ballarat are embracing the City\u2019s Summer of Fun campaign, creating signature milkshake recipes perfect for sweet-tooths, beer-lovers and those who scream for ice-cream.<\/p>\n<p>Offerings include a cannoli flavoured treat at Carboni\u2019s, an espresso martini-themed drink at The Turret, Drive has created a maple bacon shake, while Hop Temple\u2019s has a tipple; the heavenly delight vanilla porter milkshake.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Taylor from Hop Temple said his venue\u2019s shake includes a decent lashing of Aunty Jacks\u2019 vanilla porter, Il Piccolo vanilla gelato and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to have a local aspect to our milkshake and use a local beer&#8230; and who doesn\u2019t love alcohol and ice-cream,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHospitality is meant to be fun like this. You head out to enjoy yourself. Everyone enjoys having an ice-cream and a beer, so combine the two and you\u2019ve got a fun time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe key component with this campaign is venturing outdoors, visiting and supporting different places and meeting friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not all extermination with contrasting and unexpected flavours though, with some venues going for more traditions taste combinations.<\/p>\n<p>The Forge has a double-choc focus, Europa is embracing chocolate and honeycomb, Vegas &amp; Rose\u2019s Little Pink Door has a chai latte shake, and The Orchard Caf\u00e9 in Lucas has a dairy-free raspberry cheesecake milkshake option.<\/p>\n<p>City of Ballarat mayor Cr Daniel Moloney said the Summer of Fun is an opportunity to encourage tourism from residents in other parts of the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no better place to be this summer.
