{"id":74147,"date":"2021-01-27T11:39:30","date_gmt":"2021-01-27T00:39:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=74147"},"modified":"2021-01-27T11:39:30","modified_gmt":"2021-01-27T00:39:30","slug":"sessions-on-new-rules-at-lake-burrumbeet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/sessions-on-new-rules-at-lake-burrumbeet\/","title":{"rendered":"Sessions on new rules at Lake Burrumbeet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TWO workshops focusing on proposed rule changes at Lake Burrumbeet are set to run today.<\/p>\n<p>Put on the City of Ballarat and led by staff from RCMG Group, the sessions are part of the municipality\u2019s consultation process over the changes at the lake and come after prior community feedback via the City\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>Maritime Safety Victoria will present at the events and there\u2019ll also be question and feedback opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The rule updates planned for Lake Burrumbeet aim to bring space in line with the <em>Marine Safety Act 2010<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Changes include closing of boat ramp and boat size restrictions, changes to speed limits on different parts of the lake and triggers that would see speeds reduced or the lake ultimately closed if the water level drops below certain points.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops will be hosted at Lake Burrumbeet Ski Club, on Canico Drive, Burrumbeet, which is on the south shore.<\/p>\n<p>Sessions go for 90 minutes and start at 2pm and 6pm, 28 January. Bookings aren\u2019t required.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed changes came before City of Ballarat council for approval at the last meeting of 2020, but a decision on them was deferred by a majority of councillors pending extra community consultation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TWO workshops focusing on proposed rule changes at Lake Burrumbeet are set to run today.
