{"id":74193,"date":"2021-02-05T04:57:26","date_gmt":"2021-02-04T17:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=74193"},"modified":"2021-02-05T08:46:41","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T21:46:41","slug":"businesses-keen-to-back-fecri-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/businesses-keen-to-back-fecri-ride\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses keen to back FECRI ride"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WITH about a month before the Ballarat Cycle Classic hits the road, support for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute\u2019s major fundraiser is rolling in.<\/p>\n<p>As both the deputy chair of Commerce Ballarat, and representative from major sponsor BGT Legal, Hayley Coates said it\u2019s great to see so many businesses backing the ride.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event is integral to the Ballarat business community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very important thing to have such a great facility locally because cancer touches so many people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has touched so many people within our organization so it would be silly to not support such a great initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alongside Natures Cargo and Cyclescape, Sovereign Press is another of the major sponsors helping the event to continue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeeing that we\u2019ve been locked down for most of last year, to get behind and support cancer research here in Ballarat is fantastic,\u201d said Brad Wooton of Sovereign Press.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not even about the competition, it\u2019s about family involvement and friends and raising funds on the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After a challenging 2020, Sarah Stapleton from the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute said the whole team are excited that the event can go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is only through the wonderful support of local businesses, that share our determination and mission to support cancer research here in Ballarat that it is possible,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn these uncertain times, it is encouraging that businesses have been able to rally to support this community cause. Without this support, there would be no event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Registrations for the Ballarat Cycle Classic are still open and donations are welcome at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ballaratcycleclassic.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ballaratcycleclassic.com.au<\/a><\/strong>.
