NOW in its sixth year, the Invermay Progress Association is preparing to host its annual CFA fundraising afternoon later this month.<\/p>\n
Set for wightwick winery on Sunday, 28 February from 1.30pm, the afternoon will be full of specialty wine, craft beer, live music and community company.<\/p>\n
Invermay Progress Association vice-president Pam Troon said the event has always been successful and she was hoping for another great year.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year was amazing, we raised just over $7000 and over the past five years we have raised in excess of $19,000,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very generous of wightwick winery to have us out there for the day, we usually have some live music, wines from the winery and we have Red Duck Brewery come along as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really proud of the community, people have been coming for years, it\u2019s great to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tickets to the afternoon are $10 for adults and free for kids and Ms Troon said after such a bad year for bushfires, the fundraiser is an easy way for the community to give back to the CFA.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think people really see the need and importance of a well-equipped fire brigade,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started fundraising initially because our fire brigade needed equipment and an extra truck but there\u2019s always constant upgrading of equipment, repairs and maintenance needed to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n
With COVID guidelines in place for the day, organisers are asking guests to bring their own food, chairs and hand sanitiser, as well as sign in when arriving.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
