{"id":74634,"date":"2021-02-24T04:57:10","date_gmt":"2021-02-23T17:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=74634"},"modified":"2021-02-23T12:27:47","modified_gmt":"2021-02-23T01:27:47","slug":"young-bahais-gear-up-for-garage-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/young-bahais-gear-up-for-garage-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Baha\u2019i\u2019s gear up for garage sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS from Baha&#8217;i spiritual education classes are set to host a charitable garage sale to raise funds and purchase items for the Soup Bus.<\/p>\n<p>To take place on Saturday, 27 February, organisers of the classes hope to utilise the garage sale as a way of showing the children how easy and rewarding it is to give back to their communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe kids can get involved in a practical way, donate some of their toys, sell them and use whatever money they make to buy actual food and donate it to the Soup Bus,\u201d member of the Ballarat Baha&#8217;i community Dellaram Vreeland said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re part of the process from start to finish and can see where the money they raise is going directly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe week after the sale, we will be going to the Soup Bus to donate the items and they will be giving us a tour and talking through what they actually do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The garage sale will coincide with the Baha\u2019i festival Ayyam-i-Ha which revolves around giving and acts of service.<\/p>\n<p>Set to kick off at 9am, Ms Vreeland said the public are welcome to come along and browse a selection toys, homewares, preloved clothes and even a rack of vintage from Vreeland Vintage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a whole community effort, it\u2019s not just for Baha\u2019i\u2019s, we want everybody to get behind it, come and find a little treasure and give towards a good cause,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe selected the Soup Bus because of the valuable work that they do in the community and because we wanted something that directly involved the children in from beginning to end.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing into winter time too knowing that it\u2019s going to be particularly difficult for the homeless population, this is another way to support that cause.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the garage sale, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/m.facebook.com\/events\/1557271214469381\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>bit.ly\/3axI630<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS from Baha&#8217;i spiritual education classes are set to host a charitable garage sale to raise funds and purchase items for the Soup Bus.
