You don\u2019t need to read a particular book, you can read whatever you like at your level or comfort zone, and there\u2019s a theme or idea to discuss,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had our first session last week. Some people were interested in murder mysteries, political non-fiction, and even Japanese manga graphic novels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext month\u2019s theme is to read a book by someone who inspires you. It\u2019s cool to share those different interests and potentially broaden people\u2019s reading.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For those that can\u2019t decide what to read or borrow in line with the theme, Ms Brown puts together a pile of books to choose from after the meeting, to enjoy in the coming month.<\/p>\n<p>Some participants bring their own books and lend them to one other.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Brown facilitates the casual meetings from 7pm on the first Thursday of each month. There is no membership commitment; people can come to one or all of the sessions. Tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit are provided.<\/p>\n<p>The First Thursday Book Chat is part of the Libraries After Dark program. The Sebastopol Library is open on Thursdays until 10pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity to provide an alternative loungeroom for the community. It\u2019s open for everybody, it\u2019s free, we provide activities, as well as our normal library services,\u201d Ms Brown said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s another setting that\u2019s warm, welcoming, safe and friendly for everybody to enjoy, where families, young people, those on their own, those studying, or older people feel comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/39Y6zyj\"><strong>bit.ly\/39Y6zyj<\/strong><\/a> to register your attendance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SEBASTOPOL Library\u2019s First Thursday Book Chat is connecting diverse readers of varying ages and interests.
