I think everyone can relate to the happiness and playfulness of the child\u2019s face, taking us away from whatever\u2019s going on in silly-old COVID times,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this time, people are looking for something simple that portrays beauty and happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the 30 works from the 2020 Eureka Award show are still for sale at <a href=\"http:\/\/ballaratartsfoundation.org.au\/eureka-award\"><strong>ballaratartsfoundation.org.au\/eureka-award<\/strong><\/a>, with 20 per cent commission to BAF.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Nicholson said a \u201cfantastic variety\u201d of pieces were part of the prize last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnything new that we hadn\u2019t seen since the last Eureka Award was fair game,\u201d she said. \u201cWe ended up with many high quality works; ceramics, 3D sculpture work, photography, ink, and paintings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a great selection of works, which made it a very hard job for our judge, Fiona Sweet from the Ballarat International Foto Biennale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The main Eureka Award was received by Deanne Gilson at the show opening in December, for her painting <em>Nyirram turt-barram<\/em> (<em>The Morning Star<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The competition is open to former BAF grants recipients.
