{"id":76019,"date":"2021-04-30T04:54:24","date_gmt":"2021-04-29T18:54:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=76019"},"modified":"2021-05-19T17:03:28","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T07:03:28","slug":"we-will-rock-you-lyric","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/we-will-rock-you-lyric\/","title":{"rendered":"Cast meets king of Queen musical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE team behind Ballarat Lyric Theatre\u2019s upcoming show <em>We Will Rock You<\/em> met the musical\u2019s famous writer last week in Bendigo.<\/p>\n<p>Iconic British comedian Ben Elton took to the Ulumbarra Theatre stage with his stand-up on Wednesday night, before chatting to Lyric\u2019s cast and crew ahead of their July season of the futuristic show which is inspired by, and celebrates, the music of Queen.<\/p>\n<p><em>We Will Rock You <\/em>director Stephen Armati said Elton was \u201cvery generous with his time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe gave us great insight into the show, its origins, its reworks and wished us well for the season, encouraging everyone to come and celebrate a good night out in Ballarat now that theatre has reopened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were all in awe. It\u2019s not every day you\u2019re around the presence of genius. He was very endearing. He spoke to all the members of the principal cast individually, and we all walked away very excited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe couldn\u2019t believe we\u2019d just met Ben Elton.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s rockin\u2019 musical numbers include <em>We Are the Champions<\/em>, <em>I Want to Break Free<\/em>, <em>Somebody to Love<\/em>, <em>Killer Queen, Don\u2019t Stop Me Now<\/em>, <em>Under Pressure<\/em>, <em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em>, and <em>Another One Bites the Dust<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re six weeks into rehearsals. We have the vocals down, and we\u2019re into the choreography phase now.
